On April 22, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would indefinitely extend the ceasefire agreement with Iran. Earlier in the day, Trump had threatened a new round of violent action but later softened his stance. In a statement, he said that he had agreed to a request from the mediating country, Pakistan, to "hold off on attacking Iran until its leaders and their representatives come forward with a unified proposal."
