What Are The Common Faults Of Power Transformers?

May 30, 2024 Leave a message

1. Transformer oil leakage
The leakage of oil leakage of transformer is one of the common faults of power transformers, which often affects the normal operation of transformers, and the leakage of oil will cause pollution to the environment, and will also cause large economic losses, and even power system shutdown will occur in serious cases. Therefore, once the transformer has this kind of fault, it needs to be dealt with in time to avoid greater harm.

This type of failure can be divided into different causes according to the location of the oil leak. Transformer oil leakage generally occurs at the oil tank weld, low-pressure side casing oil leakage and explosion-proof pipe oil leakage. The reason for this failure may be that the fuel tank is not operated in a standardized manner during welding, resulting in premature oil leakage of the fuel tank; The position of the high-pressure casing seat is covered with a rubber pad, which makes cracks in the flange connection and causes oil leakage; On the low-voltage side of the transformer, due to the influence of bus stretching and short leads, the rubber balls pressed on the thread will also cause oil leakage.

2. The joint is overheated
The current-carrying joint is a bridge connecting the transformer and other components, the operation of the current-carrying joint directly affects the operation efficiency of the transformer, and the current-carrying joint is prone to overheating in the actual use process, which is generally due to the potential difference between a break of the transformer and the connection of the leading section, which produces heat and causes major safety accidents; In addition, there are impurities at the joints of the transformer, or the conductive paste film in the joints gradually thins with the extension of the use time, and heating will also occur; The conductive sealing head of the oil-immersed transformer will also generate heat due to the loose or sticky current-carrying joint used in the incomplete sealing.

3. Multi-point grounding of the iron core
The transformer can be used in two ways: one-point grounding and multi-point grounding, and the multi-point grounding of the transformer in actual use will produce a current loop, which will lead to the failure of the iron core, and lead to local heating, transformer oil decomposition and deformation of the iron core silicon steel sheet, making it difficult for the transformer to operate normally and safely.

4. The transformer is damp
The dampness of the transformer may be due to the water leakage of the internal parts of the transformer, the external moisture extending the pipeline and accessories into the mailbox or the presence of moisture in the insulating oil. Moisture in the transformer will affect its insulation and affect the safe operation of the transformer.
